The Essentials of Asbestos Removal

Asbestos removal is a very sensitive job and needs special skills as well as equipments to remove it. Asbestos gained popularity because of its durability, natural fire resistance and good roofing qualities. Although asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral, it is quite harmful, especially to the lungs and therefore should be removed for health safety reasons. Although asbestos in good condition poses very little concern, if it is left to deteriorate and become dust then this will be potentially fatal.

Asbestos Removal needs proper techniques and tools so that asbestos dust will not contaminate other parts of a building or house. This is why asbestos should be done only by a certified asbestos contractor. If you suspect that there is asbestos in your building or home, you should have it inspected and assessed by a certified asbestos contractor and ask for a written assessment. A copy should be supplied to you, to the asbestos removal contractor office and on site. The asbestos assessment should include a risk assessment, asbestos method and after care. It should also include the following details:

* Type of work
* Type of asbestos
* Details of expected exposure to the workers and whether the control limit will be exceeded
* Respiratory protective equipment to be used
* Control of exposure and release of asbestos to the general environment
* Procedures for provision and use of respiratory protective equipment
* Procedures for removal of waste from the area
* Emergency procedures stating full site specific safety plan

Asbestos removal should be kept apart from any other work on site and should be removed before any renovation or demolition should be done. At a single removal project, a single or a combination method may be used as the case needs. All Aucoin's Insulation methods should be discussed with the client so that they will be aware of what will be involved in the removal process. In asbestos , the wet stripping method is preferred so that there will be minimum risk of asbestos dust contamination. However, when there are technical cause that will stop the use of less dusty methods such as working in a hot plant and work that will be done using wet stripping may bring on electrical or chemical hazards. For dry stripping, removal is done by vacuum. Before any removal will be done, the whole site should be sealed completely under negative pressure. This is to prevent contamination of adjacent areas. The site may be contained by the use of a building or room as the actual containment structure. Another option is to build a special enclosure around the affected area.

Make sure that the removal contractor follows the rules set by the regulating authorities regarding removal and safe disposal of asbestos. Find the right asbestos company in Ottawa and you will have it removed with ease. Absolute safety should be ensured while proceeding with asbestos removal.
